Who are “good” friends? – Are they the “smart”, “pretty”, “handsome”, “popular”, “sporty”, “popular” ones?

If someone uses drugs, lie to people, talk behind people’s back, steal, cheat – stay away from them no matter how “smart”, “pretty”, “handsome”, “popular”, “sporty”, “popular” they are.
Does that mean that you completely have to run away from them and ignore them? No — I mean do not have any social, emotional relationship with them. Do not hang out with them.
